Miss RobertsMiss Roberts:

Jessica Roberts was born and raised in Clovis, California. Attending Clovis East High school she was a 4 year athlete in cross country, track and basketball. During her high school career she participated in regional occupational program, where she spent 2 years volunteering at local day care and pre-school centers. She also coached youth basketball camp every summer. After being accepted to Chico State in fall 2005 she quickly choose her major as Liberal studies, knowing teaching was her passion and her long term goal. She has always had the desire to positively influence other people’s lives.

She graduated Chico State in May 2009 with a degree in Liberal Studies. In February 2009 she started working for Haley Clark at Water Sprites swim school. Her goal as a swim teacher is to always be compassionate and enthusiastic while teaching children more than just how to swim. She aims to build your child’s confidence, experiences and independence. She strongly believes that involving children in physical activities when they are young increases their chance of being physically active for life, which in turn will make them healthier and happier people.

Miss WilliamsonMiss Williamson:

Victoria Williamson moved to Chico at the age of six. She started swimming competitively with the Chico Aquajets at age seven, but had been in swim lessons since before she can remember. Swimming was easily her favorite and she continued to compete year round.  She placed in the top 15 in the North state in the 100 yard backstroke. Victoria is very excited about joining the Watersprites team and working with kids in her favorite place, the pool.

Mrs CastilloMrs Castillo:

Wendy Castillo grew up in Palo Cedro, near Redding, California.  She was dedicated to ballet and gymnastics in high school and ended up as an assistant coach for the Northern California Special Olympics Gymnastics Team for two years.  It was then that she realized her passion for helping people achieve their goals.  She went on to be a counselor for at-risk teens at LIFE Camp at Camp Lassen, and then for burn victims and their families at the Northern California Burn Foundation Camp.  She was on her high school swim team for four years which grew into a life-long love of swimming, and she continued her pursuits for fitness and happiness in the water when she moved to Chico for college.  She also taught swimming lessons for CARD for five years, and was a leader for various afterschool programs in Chico schools.

After graduating from CSU, Chico with a BS degree in Health Science/ Community Health Education, Wendy worked in a Feminist Women’s Health Center for four years providing follow-up education for men and women seeking care.  Since then, she’s been able to raise her two children to school-age while providing childcare in her home.  Wendy enjoys camping on the coast with her family, swimming, photography, card-making, crafts, reading, music, and walking.  She is sensitive to special needs and loves to help build self-confidence in children.  She always wants her students to feel good about themselves and absolutely appreciates their hard work and their smiles in the pool.

Miss CurcioMiss Curcio:

Jenna Curcio was born and raised in Sacramento, California.  She is a recent graduate from CSU, Chico with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and has a wealth of experience working with children with and without disabilities in recreation and sports- based programs. Athletics have played an important role throughout her life and she is an advocate for physical activity at all ages and abilities.  Her time at CSU, Chico presented many unique educational experiences such as studying abroad in Prague, Czech Republic and completing an internship instructing downhill skiing and snowboarding for people with mental and physical disabilities at the US Adaptive Recreation Center in Big Bear.

Jenna finds aquatic-based sports very appealing and her leisure and work experiences reflect this.  She has worked as a lifeguard, an aquatic sports camp counselor, an instructor for sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking, and an assistant to an Aquatic Therapist.  Her leisure interests include hiking, camping, swimming, skiing, reading, and anything involving the outdoors.  She chose to stay in Chico after graduation because she loves the Chico culture and small town feel.

Mrs DiazMrs Diaz:

Sara Diaz was born and raised right here in Chico. She attended Pleasant Valley High School where she was a four year athlete in soccer and track. During her junior and senior year, she was a volunteer in the kindergarten and first grade classrooms at Marigold Elementary. After winning All-League and Most Valuable Player for her school soccer team at the age of fifteen, she was selected as one of only two high school students to play for the Women’s Premier Arena Soccer Team; Chico United, where she lead the league in assists. After playing for Chico United for nine years, she became the head coach in 2009 and lead the team to its second National Championship in its history.

After having her daughter in 2005 she really got involved with children’s sports and activities. She has worked with children of all ages, most recently as the coach of her daughters youth soccer team for CYSL. In her spare time, Sara loves playing soccer, bike riding, swimming and spending time with her daughter. She loves working with children and is happy to be a part of the Watersprites team. She truly believes the greatest gift is making a difference in a child’s life.

Miss McBroomMiss McBroom:

Tiffany McBroom is from Ripon, CA. She attended Johansen High School, in Modesto, where she swam and played water polo all 4 years of high school. She started swimming when she was 8 years old and loved every minute of it. During high school, she taught swim lessons every summer at the local high school. She loves being active and now she enjoys running more than swimming!

She attended San Diego State for 3 years and then decided to transfer to Chico State to finish her college career. She felt that Chico would be a better fit for her with the small town feel and all the outdoorsy activities there are to offer. She will be graduating in December with a degree in Liberal Studies then pursuing her credential in order to become an elementary school teacher. She loves working with children and has volunteered in many elementary school classrooms while in college. She hopes to bring as much enjoyment to the children in being in the pool as she has had in her experience with swimming!
